I understand we can finally get hardware debugging on a Linux host using the MSP-FET430UIF interface, has anyone tried it with the Spy-Bi-Wire interface on the original MSP430 Launchpad boards ?
"Yes" and "Yes"
it would be nice to have source level debugging available (in Linux).
Full debug in Linux, MacOS and BSD would be great.
I read somewhere that the eZ430 interface will never be supported in Linux with CCS, can someone confirm this ?
There is a good chance that this statement is correct.
Do the currently shipping Launchpad boards still use the eZ430 interface ?
Yeah, why would they stop using eZ430?
A summary of the various debug interfaces for the MSP430 would be nice, haven't found it yet ... pointers appreciated, thanks.
It is not that hard to find: http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/slau278o/slau278o.pdf
There is a very small amount of engineers who work under Linux (Windows is standard in industry). As a result spending time on Linux drivers is not good for business.
If you need to work under Linux just get full featured FET. I see no problem.
