just wanted to save everybody a bit of time by asking here....
Should this (lone) reporter qualify (somewhat) as "everybody" - then indeed, "Crazy-making has been realized."

We should operate w/full knowledge of present events/conditions - and unfortunately - those don't favor your acquiring, "best, brightest" factory response while targeting far "back-roomed" (i.e. NRND) MCU.  May I suggest that - should your desired SW solution exist - it will have properly migrated to new, rebrand MCU!  Thus - your call to vendor tech staff may wish to "downplay" NRND device - shift instead to nearest equivalent, newer (i.e. available) MCU.  (perhaps there may be slight register shifts employed w/newer MCUs - (your detailed search w/in newer MCU data manual may add detail - or suggest abandonment) - however the cascade of response harvested here - targeting NRND device - has yielded just one.  (and that from an extremely ill lit - and far back, back room...)

Further - this may be a feature/function springing from - or majority influenced - by the ARM spec itself.  A visit & search there may provide sought, further insight.

Your feedback here - good or bad - will lessen the likelihood of your lone responder - going still, "more crazy..."
