Thank you for your quick response. Could you please expand on your answer.

The  confusion relates to the binding of a trigger pin to a specific GPIO channel.  For example, if Port E pin 3 is to be used to trigger read / write DMA data on Port A, then it would be defined GPIODMATriggerEnable(Port E, Pin 3) . How then is this trigger defined to apply to the Port A DMA channel and not some other channel, presuming that a number of DMA channels can be defined and enabled concurrently ?

Apologies in advance if something obvious has been overlooked.
