Well.. You shall try simple&stupid LED blinking code running from default DCO that does nothing else than WDTHOLD, P1DIR |= LED_BIT init, then P1OUT ^= LED_BIT loop with delay_cycles(500000). Also note that "SBW-compatible" reset circuit (it's capacitor to be exact) is not that compatible with slow-ramping supplies. LP supply is ok, LP FET probably toggle reset of target to be sure (I don't know, don't care). What about your supply? BOR circuit releases CPU from reset at around 1.3V but note that most parameters of msp430 are specified for voltages 1.8V and up. So if you know that your supply is slow or not sure then 1) use SVS or 2) loop at the beginning for a while or 3) use proper reset capacitor to hold reset low longer while VCC ramping-up
