Shubhangi, Using a C2000 microcontroller(for example TMS320F28379D ) is not as simple as providing power. There is a host of support circuitry required to enable the device to power on, load code, and run. When a customer is evaluating using C2000 designing and building a custom PCB to house this circuitry can be a costly endeavor. For this reason we provide EValuation Modules(EVMs). One of the types of EVMs we provide is a controlCARD. The one you are looking at offers an on-board emulator, and has been designed to connect to a TMDSHSECDOCK docking station to breakout signals as well as to provide power to the controlCARD. Another difference is that the controlCARDs are designed to work a standard temperature and pressure, while the TMS320F28xx device it uses off has a much wider temperature tolerance. Some cost considerations have been made, but overall controlCARDs have good performance and is a good example of how to develop an application specific board. Regards, Cody
